Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre

Building on the success of the discoveries and developments taking place at Manchester relating to graphene and advanced materials, further investments are being made in this area to reinforce our position as a globally leading knowledge base in graphene research and commercialisation.

The Graphene Engineering Innovation Centre (GEIC) will be critical in the development of commercial applications and in maintaining the UK’s world-leading position in graphene and related 2D materials. The facility will also stimulate the commercial redevelopment of the University’s North Campus, creating the cornerstone for a 'graphene city'.

The Centre will be partially funded by the Higher Education Funding Council England’s UK Research Partnership Investment Fund (UKRPIF), Innovate UK and Masdar – the Abu Dhabi-based renewable energy company owned by Mubadala. The remainder will be provided by other research funds and institutions.
