Funding our development

Our ambition is to transform the campus with the largest investment in capital infrastructure since our foundation, and philanthropy is core to achieving this.

People are at the heart of our success. We succeed because we attract creative and talented students, researchers and staff who are driven by a desire to take the lead, think differently and discover innovative approaches to solving today’s problems.

Impressive modern facilities play a pivotal role in attracting and supporting the most talented individuals from across the globe. That’s why creating an environment in which they can flourish is a priority at Manchester. In order to do this we need to secure investment from diverse sources.

Philanthropy has always played a role in the establishment of our teaching, learning and research spaces. Some of the great industrialists of the 19th century funded many of the iconic buildings that students and staff use today. Throughout our history, alumni and friends have helped fund new facilities, as well as extend and refurbish existing ones, so that future generations can benefit from a world-class education in a world-class environment.
